Women say...

ON WOMEN
AND UNIONS

CAN WOMEN BECOME UNION LEADERS ?
It is an obvious fact that women are not in top Union leadership
positions except in rare cases.
It is also obvious that they play a vital role at job level and are most
important to Trade Union Organisation.

WOMEN COULD BECOME MORE ACTIVE
IF the problems of two jobs - work and home responsibility could be
overcome.
IF they themselves became more interested in Union affairs.
IF Unions are able to give more thought, attention and
encouragement to their involvement.
These are some women who have made it !

From: "Handbook for Women Unionists"  1975,  presented by the Union of Australian Women

Working with the Oral History Association of Queensland, the Union of Australian Women and the Trades and Labour Council, oral historian, Therese Collie, has recorded the stories of  women of varied backgrounds throughout the Queensland labor movement.
